Today there are many new and exciting films that focus on issues related to trans people. Below are a few that focus on trans youth and children.
Documentaries

	HOW DO I LOOK? A lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender "look" at the Ballroom Community through a multi-cultural, inter-generational and artistic lens. It serves as an artistic community empowerment project sending strong HIV/AIDS awareness messages through screenings, lectures, politicians, AIDS & community based organizations and the media. 	TOILET TRAINING A film by Tara Mateik and the Sylvia Rivera Law Project. The video addresses the persistent discrimination, harassment, and violence that people who transgress gender norms face in gender segregated bathrooms. It is a race, age, ability and gender diverse video, which is a great activist tool and an excellent classroom resource appropriate for undergraduate and graduate classes in Women's Studies, Gender Studies, LGBT Studies, Disability Studies, Law, Social Work and Education. 	TRANSGENERATION Eight-episode documentary TransGeneration focuses on the lives of four college students struggling to fit into a society that doesn't understand why they are the way they are. 	JUST CALL ME KADE Kade is a sixteen year old transguy residing in Tucson, Arizona. Kade’s parents maintain a supportive and nurturing relationship with Kade regarding the many challenges facing their teenage child. Year 2001, 26 min. USA. [Link to DVD]

	YOUTH OUT LOUD A documentary addressing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth issues in our schools. [One of the personal stories higlighted is about Danielle, a transgirl who is a high school student]. Year 2000, available in 45 min. and 20 min. version. USA. [Link to DVD & Preview!]

	THE BRANDON TEENA STORY This is a documentary focuses on the last few weeks of Brandon Teena's life. He was 20 years old and lived in a small Midwestern town (Falls City, Nebraska). It contains news footage and interviews with Brandon's family, friends, former girlfriends, as well as the two men who are in jail (one on death row) for the rape and later murder of Brandon, and that of a young mother and another man with whom he had sought refuge miles away. This true story, which was the basis for the feature film Boys Don't Cry, is recounted in this award-winning (Best Documentary at both the Vancouver and Berlin film festivals) documentary. 	ABOUT A GIRL LIKE ME: THE GWEN ARAUJO STORY Film about Gwen Araujo who was a teenage transgirl who was murdered in California. Year 2006, USA. [Link to Lifetime.com and more information]

	BILLY ELLIOT The life of 11-year-old Billy Elliot a coal-miner's son is forever changed one day when he stumbles upon a ballet class during his weekly boxing lesson. Before long he finds himself demonstrating the kind of raw talent seldom seen. Year 2000, United Kingdom. [Link to DVD]

	BOYS DON'T CRY Based on real-life events (as documented in The Brandon Teena Story) that occurred in 1993. Brandon was raped and murder by two of his supposed friends. Year 1999, USA. [Link to DVD]

	MA VIE EN ROSE The story of Ludovic who wants to be a girl. The overall tone is loving, filled with tenderness and culminating in acceptance and togetherness. As the family stumbles and struggles to come to terms with Ludo, they also find an innocent conviction in Ludo so powerful and pure that it's infectious. 	OUT OF THE SHADOWS Since it's debut on YouTube in January of 2007, the film has been consistently given a 5-star rating and universally praised for its message of acceptance and support for trans and gender non-conforming children and youth. Viewed more than 300,000 times and translated into Portuguese, Out Of The Shadows has become a valuable tool for families, educators and others working to raise awareness about the needs and challenges faced by these amazing children and youth. 	TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS: SELF INJECTING "T" A DIY (DO-IT-YOURSELF) GUIDE This is a health teaching resource made by and for trans communities.
